A while back I wrote about Total Physical Response (TPR), and its importance in the very young learner classroom. Some teachers are great at creating TPR actions for vocabulary, others really struggle.

Here’s a tip I learned from Vanessa Reilly, author of Very Young Learners. When struggling to think of a TPR action for a word, particularly where there could be many actions that are the same (such as an orange or an apple), take a look at the American Sign Language website for inspiration.
