I really enjoy workshops run by those gifted in the art of story telling, and watched this one recently in order to pick up a few tips. My favourite tip is at the beginning, in which the presenter describes how she tells her own (life) ‘story’ to students. I’m not sure how it would work (or need to be adapted for very young learners), but I love the idea.

In my experience, children are really interested in learning more about their teacher and where they’re from. I think that telling your story in an engaging way (as is presented in this video) would really assist in building a solid relationship with your students if it was done in one of the first classes. It’s something I’m definitely going to give a go.
