Last week I talked about using an ad-blocker to make web pages and YouTube videos a better visual experience in the classroom. Today I want to share another tool for making YouTube videos a safer, and more pleasurable viewing experience.
ViewPure is a tool for removing all of the visual clutter from the YouTube page, along with advertisements, related videos, and comments. It reduces the risk something offensive might appear on the screen. You either copy the link of the YouTube video into the ViewPure website, or there’s a bookmarklet you can install that will ‘purify’ the video. The tool itself is free, and doesn’t require you to sign up, unless you want to use the playlists feature.
Similar tools you might want to explore include Quietube, and SafeShare.tv.
